So this past weekend, was a long weekend as I took Monday off along with today's public holiday and turned it into a super loong 4 day weekend spent with my Sweetheart and friends!
|
No nasty-ass Monday for me this week, yyeesss! Laters Monday! |
It started on Friday, where my Sweetheart and me just chilled at home and caught up on some much needed sleep... Saturday turned out to be a ton of fun as we met up with our friends and their little girl at the The Shed on route 59. It is a little farmers market along the R59 it's about 20 min drive from Mulbarton, with a nursery, a craft beer stall and a waffle shed. We enjoyed some giant sized waffles in the sun and it was ages since I last had an ice cold Brauhaus'ie. It is a very cute venue decorated with rustic watering cans, farm tools and old gum boots that after their worn serve as pot plants ... we will definitely be going to the night market this week.

On Sunday the sushi craving hit us and it hit us hard so we headed up to Fourways, and discovered this authentic Japanese restaurant, called Tsuyu. It is situated at the Pineslopes shopping centre and it has a relaxing, and calm atmosphere. We tried soft shell crab, that was amazing, a unique large tuna crunch roll, the freshest sashimi (for an inland restaurant that's not situated in a coastal city it's impressive) and I tried cold soba noodles for the first time and it rocked my world! Alas, I was enjoying the food too much that I forgot to take photo's to share. We also enjoyed some Thailand beer and we ended the evening off with green tea ice cream and deep fried vanilla ice cream. So much of deliciousness! Yes, from now on this shall be our regular sushi spot in Jozi.

On Monday, it was time to braai, although today was National Braai Day, we decided to invite our friend, Selby, over for some pizza's on the Weber and a few wines and beers...and then afterwards we went to hangout with the cool kids at Wakaberry and got ourselves some frozen yogurt. But all this eating! I know you are judging but we did go to spinning in the morning and I shall have to go to a few more classes in these coming weeks to shake the winter treats off my rear :)
Today has been a pajama day as tomorrow will be back to work Wednesday and I spent the day catching up on the latest news with my friends in Cape Town, sharing funny pics, gossip and stories of bad traffic, the weather, food, chocolate and birthday parties.

I also made some new friends and tried to return to my former rockin' rollin' youth by going to a local rock concert, Joburg Day. South African musicians were playing crunchy tunes and I made some new friends!
