What a week...

So to say that this was a helluva week is an understatement, the one great thing is that my Sweetheart is not working night shift this week but he has been working the whole week including this weekend. We are so used to exhaustion that we don't complain anymore and just carry on as this is our normality. Some more of the bad stuff then we will get to the good...

Then there was a garden wedding of one of my family members that we went to, where the sprinklers went off during the ceremony. Then it poured with rain and we all sat with umbrellas in a little garden, shivering and soaking wet having awkward conversations but persevered from the afternoon till the evening. I then tested my driving skills in driving through river like roads to work as the whole of Jo'burg experienced flooding due to the heavy rains. My little Jamba (pet name for my Nissan Juke) held its own and can luckily swim :)

It was a Kraken of a week filled with fury

The river to work, this was shallow waters still, that's why I was able to take a pic

The garden wedding

We had a watches and jewellery sale at our head office and were running up and down from our desks until I fell up the escalator - pulled the muscles around my scapula and bruised my ego as well as my arms and legs but luckily no broken bones. My boss unleashed the Kraken and went bat shit crazy as she has some personal medical procedure she is going through, and flips her lid at every turn, so it has been particularly tough! My planner has moved to another department but it was not all bad, we partied, and celebrated his time with us. At our sale we gave away a lot of hampers that made people in the office's day as they also had tough weeks. You know the world of hurt that awaits you when you don't make sales and customers are just not buying...We put on our red lips and are feeling positive for Valentine's Day sales. I got my weekly dose of Kill la Kill, and it never disappoints, the creators of this show are just awesome, the concept and story line is brilliant and the characters so interesting that you cannot stop watching! Oh and I am starting to learn Spanish on my Duolingo app, trying to get closer to that Spanish trip dream of mine.

Make the owl happy practice everyday - Si Senor lechuza!

My brother started his own carpentry business and looks like it is going well

We say farewell by partying

And being silly

We dust ourselves off and put on our red lips!

Make some happy customers

Make them winners

And then win some more!

I had a great 1 1/2 hours at the new Zumba Step launch, yes doing Zumba on a step and yes it hurts afterwards but it was a great cardio session! Everything hurts and it feels goood. We went to a family 30th in an extravagant Lebanese Bedfordview style home - an entertainment home that looks like it is out of a magazine or was maybe on an episode of Top Billing (not sure but OTT). A view of the whole Jo'burg, a designer garden, rooms upon rooms, a hotel car drop off area, maids, a cinema room. I have never seen so many business men, models, gym bunnies and I don't know what else in one area, the drink and food was a never ending river of over indulging. It felt fleeting, pretentious and dreamlike. It made me grateful for what I have, my life until thus far and that I have someone to share all experiences with, it is real not perfect but real and I would not change it for anything.

So here is to being more grateful and to a better, brighter week that is full of experiences and surprises!

What's hot right now: ICE watches at Edgars and Lamas...

This is my first entry for the month and as there is lots of excitement for the reason that summer finally arrived in Jo'burg, I always share my list of favorite things at this time ... so here is what's on my so-hot-right-now list for October:

ICE watches in so much of colour at Edgars

The first exciting news is that I purchased a new watch, and it is an ICE watch with Swarovski elements and a white silicone strap. It comes in the most gorgeous packaging and it is pink and white, just the right colours for summer. As Edgars has the brand exclusively at their stores, I got my watch from The Glen but there are other Edgars carrying it including Sandton, Eatgate, and Alberton City. Edgars The Glen is looking amazing after the revamp and I actually want to shop there now, I used to avoid it but not anymore. I'm sure there will be more stores getting the brand. The watches are priced from R1000 - R2000.

My pink and white ICE watch - loves loves!

I have also had a first encounter with a real life lama, and it is on top of my list of favorite animals. I love lamas like I love pandas and pugs ... they are so cute with fluffy soft wool and the lama I met was named Snowflake! So cute my head is going to explode ... and it is actually on a company's premises that I do business with, they have this farm with lamas, ducks, peacocks, geese and bunnies! White little furry bunnies! For real, I have pics :)

I loves lamas

I was petting the lama for real real

This is Snowflake, she is so cute

This is where the company is situated, I love their offices! Look at the lamas grazing...

I thought all lamas looked like Tina, thank goodness there are cute ones like Snowflake

Look at this bird looking so hot right now in coral, all natural for summer!

Its a peacock in the middle of the road...ZOMG so awesome

As the days are getting hotter and hotter, the drinks need to get cooler and more refreshing. And nothing beats Ice green tea from Tsuyu (the Japanese owned by Taiwanese restaurant in Fourways that I told you about last time). Super refreshing and sweetened by all natural honey. I can't pronounce the name or in actual fact I can't read it but here is a pic of it below. Then there  is also frozen yogurt that hits the spot, from the self serve place called Yogoorus, it is like Wakaberry but situated in Melrose Arch with different flavours like peanut butter or plain with stevia sweetener but essentially based on the same concept.

My favorite ICE green tea right now, I can't read the label :)

Oh and I enjoy reading all the latest in my Barbie magazine with my one good eye :) It is fun goofin' around but only sometimes at work! We do have so much of fun!

Just catching up on some Barbie gossip...giirrrl what are you wearing?

I also think that Casio old school manly fatique watches are so hot right now, am going to get one for my baby ... And bunny paper clips at Typo, well, basically all Typo's cool stationary is great but the bunny paperclips are so cute! I got them from  my new fav stationary shop, Typo at Sandton City. Oh and I am cooking a lot with prawns, with added spicyness and for some odd reason combining this with minneolas juice. Minneolas is a fruit that is orange in colour, easy to peel and well something between a naartjie and an orange. The combo does actually taste nice!

Prawns with minneolas juice, it's nice!

Okay back to my Sunday eve blues, as I feel Monday stalking  me like a nasty ol' grizzly... gotta beat that b#tch of bear down tomoz!

It's that beast Monday behind me?

Have a Happy Monday

Loong weekends

So this past weekend, was a long weekend as I took Monday off along with today's public holiday and turned it into a super loong 4 day weekend spent with my Sweetheart and friends!

No nasty-ass Monday for me this week, yyeesss! Laters Monday!

It started on Friday, where my Sweetheart and me just chilled at home and caught up on some much needed sleep... Saturday turned out to be a ton of fun as we met up with our friends and their little girl at the The Shed on route 59. It is a little farmers market along the R59 it's about 20 min drive from Mulbarton, with a nursery, a craft beer stall and a waffle shed. We enjoyed some giant sized waffles in the sun and it was ages since I last had an ice cold Brauhaus'ie. It is a very cute venue decorated with rustic watering cans, farm tools and old gum boots that after their worn serve as pot plants ... we will definitely be going to the night market this week.

Love the pot plant boots decor

The Waffle Shed's giant waffles are awesome :)

You can spot the shed's green sign from the R59 highway

On Sunday the sushi craving hit us and it hit us hard so we headed up to Fourways, and discovered this authentic Japanese restaurant, called Tsuyu. It is situated at the Pineslopes shopping centre and it has a relaxing, and calm atmosphere. We tried soft shell crab, that was amazing, a unique large tuna crunch roll, the freshest sashimi (for an inland restaurant that's not situated in a coastal city it's impressive) and I tried cold soba noodles for the first time and it rocked my world! Alas, I was enjoying the food too much that I forgot to take photo's to share. We also enjoyed some Thailand beer and we ended the evening off with green tea ice cream and deep fried vanilla ice cream. So much of deliciousness! Yes, from now on this shall be our regular sushi spot in Jozi.

Tsuyu restaurant, we sat in the corner by the painting :)

On Monday, it was time to braai, although today was National Braai Day, we decided to invite our friend, Selby, over for some pizza's on the Weber and a few wines and beers...and then afterwards we went to hangout with the cool kids at Wakaberry and got ourselves some frozen yogurt. But all this eating! I know you are judging but we did go to spinning in the morning and I shall have to go to a few more classes in these coming weeks to shake the winter treats off my rear :)

Today has been a pajama day as tomorrow will be back to work Wednesday and I spent the day catching up on the latest news with my friends in Cape Town, sharing funny pics, gossip and stories of bad traffic, the weather, food, chocolate and birthday parties.

Heavy raining and hale in C Town!

My friend indulging in a serious chunk of chocolate

My friend Queenie's B day with all my C Town buddies, missing them!

I also made some new friends and tried to return to my former rockin' rollin' youth by going to a local rock concert, Joburg Day. South African musicians were playing crunchy tunes and I made some new friends!

Enough sharing, hope you had a fabulous weekend and wishing you an exciting week ahead!
